What promise does a younger voting age hold for the future of our democracy?

The Vote16 Research Network is a community-led effort convened by scholars at the University of Maryland to study the impact of a lower voting age in cities in the United States.

The Network includes youth advocates, local government officials, educators, and scholars. Together, we’re building a stronger understanding of civic engagement through the innovation of 16- and 17-year old voting. Our work includes the first impact analysis of lowering the voting age in the United States.
